What Kind of Leader are You?

What's your leadership style?

You, whose image of yourself has always been one of success and leadership. You've carved out a path to achieve the respect of peers and colleagues, you've landed important roles in your career path and you enjoy a lucrative income. You have friends, position, and abundance...

...And, as you paint this vivid picture of enviable success and respect, what is that shadow over there in the corner? The one that no one sees and you don't talk about? The one you cover over with another raise or accomplishment or new toy or accolade? That thing you ignore...the thing that never goes away? What do you call it? Why is it there? What is it all about?

From the outside, your "plus" column is filled with a long list of achievements and the "minus" column is relatively short, yet inwardly you are aware of that thing - that shadow - that one undeniably aching hole. You can't cross it off your "minus" list and nothing in the "plus" column seems to satisfy the void.

Do you suffer from Leader Façade?

Quick quizzes and online assessments rarely provide serious evaluation or can determine the source of issues with real accuracy. What they can do is open a topic of dialogue or create an opportunity for reflection from a different perspective. So, in the interest of inspired curiosity, I invite you to do just that.

A good question is worth thousand hours of self-reflection.

What can you find out about yourself as a leader? Take a few minutes to explore some, hard to get at, areas that could reveal some truths about your leadership style and what to do about it.Find out!
